Fourth Project Meeting

Kaunas, 22-27.04.2014.

 

Within the framework of European cooperation Comenius Regio titled "Social Integration Through Sport", a group of 17 Greek teachers from Eastern Attica participated in the last educational workshop in Kaunas, Lithuania. The Greek delegation was initially welcomed by representatives of the Municipality of Kaunas and from the head of Culture, Education and Sport Department of Kaunas Region. The progress of the cooperation so far and the results and conclusions from the previous meetings were discussed in this conference. The next conference meeting was held in Garliava Jonuciai Secondary School with the participation of all partner organizations. The main results of a comparative research concerning the relationship of physical activity and physical education with the social skills of students were presented during this meeting. Moreover, the role of innovative activities in the development / improvement of social skills of students and the promotion of active citizenship was highlighted. The Greek teachers also visited the partner schools, attended cultural events, participated in a sport festival and had the opportunity to try Nordic walking. Finally, the Greek educational delegation had the opportunity to visit places of cultural , historical, religious and educational interest. Among them the castle of Trakai, the Ethnographic Museum, the Kaunas Region Education Centre, St George 's Church, the University of Klaipeda, the Curonian Spit (Neringa) in the Baltic Sea and the historic center of the capital city Vilnius.The Curonian Spit and the Old Town of Vilnius are included in the world heritage list, being an integral part of the cultural and natural heritage, which the World Heritage Committee considers as having outstanding universal value.
